Post Thanksgiving is one of my favorite times of the year. People are happy, relaxed if they didn't get caught up in the shopping frenzy of Black Friday and there is lots of ready made food.
In years past, this weekend has been reserved for gingerbread creation time with our Girl Scout troop. The Annual Port Festival occurs on the first weekend of December each year, bringing together food, music and visits with Santa with the fundraising auction of the community's gingerbread creation for the American Red Cross.
Our girls learned long ago to hold onto their halloween candy for use while decorating.
All those candies that kids don't love work incredibly well for decoration.
